Position : Manager - Production Planning & Control (PPC)
Reports To: Plant Head / Factory Manager
Education: B.E. in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering
Experience: 8–12 years in Production Planning in ERP environment.
Job Summary: The PPIC Manager will be responsible for strategic planning, control, and governance of production and inventory to ensure on-time, complete delivery, optimal inventory levels, and efficient capacity utilization.
The role acts as the command center connecting Sales, Production, Purchase, Inventory, QA, and Dispatch.
Core Responsibilities
1. Master Production Planning & Control
- Own and approve monthly, weekly, and daily Master Production Plans (MPP).
- Translate business demand into capacity-feasible production plans.
- Decide production priorities, sequencing, and load balancing across departments.
- Authorize plan changes, escalations, and re-prioritization for urgent or critical orders.
2. Capacity & Throughput Management
- Define and approve machine and manpower capacity norms.
- Monitor bottlenecks, constraints, and throughput losses.
- Drive capacity enhancement initiatives (shift optimization, outsourcing, process changes).
- Align production planning with maintenance shutdowns and validations.
3. Inventory Strategy & Control
- Define inventory policies for RM, WIP, and FG (Min–Max, safety stock, ageing).
- Control inventory turns, working capital, and stock obsolescence.
- Approve material availability strategies for high-risk and long-lead items.
- Ensure lot traceability and batch integrity for implants and instruments.
4. ERP Governance & Data Accuracy
- Own PPIC-related ERP configuration, discipline, and data integrity.
- Ensure MRP outputs are realistic, executable, and aligned with capacity.
- Review and approve BOM accuracy, lead times, and planning parameters.
- Drive ERP adoption and process compliance across departments.
5. Performance Monitoring & Decision Making
- Review plant-level KPIs:
- Plan vs Actual
- OTIF
- Inventory Turnover
- WIP Control
- Schedule Adherence
- Lead daily/weekly production review meetings.
- Take corrective and preventive actions based on data trends.
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as single-point authority for delivery commitments.
- Align Sales, Production, Purchase, QA, and Dispatch to a common plan.
- Support NPI, trials, and scale-up decisions from a planning and capacity perspective.
- Resolve inter-department conflicts related to priorities and resource allocation.
7. Compliance, Risk & Audit Readiness
- Ensure PPIC processes comply with ISO 13485, CE MDR, MDSAP.
- Identify supply, capacity, and delivery risks and drive mitigation plans.
- Support audits with planning rationale, traceability, and control evidence.

- High ownership of delivery, cost, and inventory
- Exposure to regulated manufacturing (medical devices preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred)
- Ability to interpret and challenge MRP outputs, lead times, and BOM structures
- Data-driven decision making using KPIs and trend analysis
- Ability to assess risk, constraints, and trade-offs between delivery, cost, and inventory
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex planning and supply chain scenarios
